Sign up for the Beyond The Kitchen Table programme

Beyond the Kitchen Table (BTKT) is a specialised training programme, designed by Food and Drink North East for small-scale food and drink producers and emerging entrepreneurs looking to scale their business, become retail-ready, and grow into B2B channels such as retail, wholesale, hospitality and foodservice.

Featuring 12 short online learning modules delivered by experts and business owners that participants can study at a self-guided pace, the programme covers subjects such as accreditation, packaging, finance, retail space, and foodservice requirements. Each online learning module takes between 15-30 minutes to complete.

As well as the online learning element of the Beyond The Kitchen Table programme, participants will also have opportunities to connect with their cohort and practice their pitches at touch points throughout the programme, as well as putting their new skills to the test at a live Producer Pitch and at a Meet The Buyer event.

Beyond The Kitchen Table is fully-funded and will run from August 2026 – October 2026 as part of the North East Rural Growth Programme.
Limited places available, so get in touch with the FADNE team now via the form below.

We loved this course, the benefits of doing this are still happening for us. Pitching to established North East retailers was so exciting and beneficial. They genuinely want you to succeed!

Sam Dobson

Founder, Cracked Bean Roastery

The standard of the videos and advice were very high with lots of relevant information and a likable, easy pace of delivery. Most of these, I would like to review again as the information stays relevant. Programme organisers were great and really helpful every step of the way. Through the in-person events, it was fascinating to learn more about the landscape and experiences of other food producers in the region.

Ciarán Quigley

Head Miller, Heatherslaw Mill

Our experience with the programme was wonderful. Engaging, supportive help and an amazing opportunity to work with different suppliers, some of whom I knew already but was great to touch base with again and some of whom were new to me.

Kristy Giblin

Co-Owner, The Pudding Parlour

I would highly recommend the Beyond the Kitchen Table programme for any small or micro food and drink business that is looking to expand into the retail and foodservice sectors. The programme is well-structured and provides a comprehensive overview of everything you need to know to get your business ready for retail.
