COVID-19 has dramatically affected the food, drink and hospitality sectors with many businesses struggling to see what their future looks like post-pandemic. As they begin to open up after lockdown we believe the time is the right is to support these invaluable regional assets at a time when they are at their most vulnerable.
Promoted locally and nationally the campaign is a series of four one-minute short films each celebrating a different aspect of the tourism and hospitality offer in the North East. And is aimed at local people, those who live away and those who may have not have visited the North East before.
The first film touches on history, heritage, and innovation – showcasing the fishing industry at North Shields Fish Quay, zero-carbon emission transport as well as the nationally-renowned Träkol restaurant positioned under the iconic Tyne Bridge.
The backing track is a new interpretation of ‘Meet Me On The Corner’ by local music legends Lindisfarne, recorded by Elisabeth Liddle, a locally-based music student. This new and exclusive rendition has the full support of Rod Clements the songwriter and founding member of Lindisfarne and we are aiming to release this version in the near future.
The campaign is being launched on 31st July and we encourage everyone to share the link and help us extend it’s reach using hashtags #ComingHomeNE and #FoodandDrinkNE
We’d like to thank our key partners, Newcastle University, Gateshead Council and Visit Durham without whom this campaign would not have been possible.
