Food and Drink North East announces a strategic partnership with Harlands Accountants to help make the world of accounting more accessible to North East food and drink businesses.
When Food and Drink North East (FADNE) launched in February 2020, one of the first professional relationships it formed was with Harlands Accountants, a dynamic and innovative accountancy firm based in County Durham with a proven track record of providing informed, specialist services to food and drink businesses, and counting many of the region’s most successful brands within its portfolio.
Harlands Accountants understands the challenges many start-up and small business owners face when building a successful food and drink business, from cashflow and supply chain management to driving up gross profit, and is able to support and guide these companies on their business journey.
FADNE and Harlands have worked closely together over the last 18 months, and are now thrilled to announce a strategic partnership that will allow associate and partner members of FADNE’s Community to access an exclusive range of resources provided by Harlands. This includes a personal meeting with a food and drink specialist, a yearly accounting software subscription, and a tailored financial benchmark report to show businesses how well they are performing compared to their competitors.
Phil Murray, commercial and culture director at Harlands Accountants says, “We have been working closely with the team at FADNE for a couple of years now and are delighted to now have a strategic partnership which will allow us to support more food and drink businesses.”
“The visions of our two companies are very similar, with us both aiming to build businesses (and the region) through a range of support initiatives and innovative solutions. We can’t wait to be a partner in achieving FADNE’s overall objective of growing the sector’s contribution to the regional economy to 10% GVA by 2025! It is a challenging objective but one we are passionate about achieving together.”
Sharing these common goals to better the North East region, is one of the reasons FADNE has decided to form this strategic partnership with Harlands. “Our relationship with Harlands Accountants is an exciting and long-standing one,” says Chris Jewitt, founder and managing director of FADNE. “We first met when shaping the very first FADNE pitch deck. We were consulting with North East organisations that we knew broke convention within their field and when we met Harlands we realised immediately that we shared a deep passion for food and drink, as well as boasting genuine, sector-targeted expertise for food, drink and hospitality businesses — from start-ups to SMEs.”
“A youthful, progressive and creative team – Harlands bought into FADNE from the beginning and have offered so many of our businesses critical insights, making the world of accounting accessible to businesses who traditionally may have not engaged. I’m excited about just how much value they can bring to our FADNE Community partnership.”
